I'm doing the MA in Social Work right now, and it's fantastic. Very intensive, huge amounts of theory and pushes your intrapersonal skills to a whole new level, but worth it. I'm currently on placement, which I'm enjoying (although I'm finding it tough going due to health problems, but that's a whole different story!). There's a lot of written work expected whilst you're on placement too, so it's a juggling act, but I am enjoying every moment. What's your background in? I had to have 2500 hours worth of relevant work experience to get on the MA (plus interview and written test) and they were very picky about what was 'relevant', despite me having worked in the area for 8 years! I guess it will be different at different Unis though.

As far as I know, the bursary has changed - it's available for the MA still, but changed for the BA (think you only get it for the last two years? But don't quote me on that) If you google social work bursaries, it'll take you to the right place.

Shout if I can answer any further q's for you xx

Hi Tessie Bear, I think if you feel it would be manageable, the MA is shorter, more intensive and a respected qualification, on the whole. Here is a link to the up to date guide about funding.
Good luck on the journey, it's hard work but worth it!
