HELP..uninstalled product key

My smart alec son has accidentally uninstalled his product key and now has the message that his copy of win 7 is not genuine. He used command prompt- run as admin- and...slmgr.vbs -upk. then hit enter.:eek:
I think the product key is in the battery compartment but how do we re install it to make the copy genuine again ?:D:D
Would a system restore do it?:mad::mad:

Click on the Start Button and type: CMD (into the 'Search programs and files' field in the Start Menu)
The Start Menu will show 'CMD.exe',
Right-click the CMD.exe file and select Run As Administrator.
In the CMD window, type: slmgr.vbs -ipk <type your product key here>
To activate windows after changing the key, type: slmgr.vbs -ato

Thanks for that but I pulled the battery to get the key and when it restarted the screen had an activation box requesting the key. Key typed in and all's well ...except his wrist which I'm about to slap:rotfl:...Only joking, he's bricking it already in case it couldn't be fixed.
Lesson learnt I think
