OLD IVA and credit ref files

Options
I went into an IVA in Aug 2005 and completed it in 2007. In Aug 2011 I was successful in getting an off the shelf loan for a little car and paid it off no problem. Got a little credit card with a low limit that I pay off happily every month. Have monthly contract mobiles, virgin media, etc. Financially I am more than sound. I've recently just tried to get a secured loan though for some much needed home improvements and the company did something called a 'manual' credit search and despite all these years, my IVA showed up, albeit completed successfully and they declined my credit.

Will this be something that is now with me for the rest of my life? Payplan told me it would dissappear after 6 years and up to now, the car loan and credit card indicated that it had.

Just worried now that the leaking roof is going to eventually give way before I've been able to save up enough to replace it. :(

  • You may have a notice of correction added to your credit file, some CRA do this when the IVA is completed.

Credit check yourself to see if this is the case and if so request it be removed
