Barclay's Reserve account Charges

Hi

I wondered if anyone knows if it's possible to try and reclaim the reserve account fee's that Barclays charge (£22 every 5 days). I realise after reading a few threads that this was an 'opt out' service.

We have ended up in financial hardship and a DMP due to redundancy and various other things. We were living in the reserve account for a long time. I understand people saying we should have cancelled it but we were desperately trying to tread water and pay everyone we owed as best we could we did this our current plummeted into chaos. We are now facing our problems and trying to move on.

We also have fees for returned direct debits so I am presuming I can try and claim for these?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Have you read this very informative MSE article?

  • Thanks I had read it, but going to have another look. I think it's worth a try even if it doesn't work in the end. It's just that we have spiralled into further debt with the help of the reserve limit and I am aware that to some extent it's our own fault but we were desperately trying to keep the wolves from the door.:(:embarasse:embarasse:embarasse

    ... and why not?
    Q. What charges can I try to reclaim?
We're talking about charges and related costs for going beyond your overdraft limit, or bounced cheques and direct debit....
