ITV or the Times selling my phone number

Options
Even though I most definitely ticked 'do not share my details' on the ITV comps, or the recent Times newspaper comps to win Sky + etc, one of them has been sharing my details, as those are the ONLY place I have entered with a particular phone number

Calls are from 0115 871 7037 probably trying to sell PPI claims - I've hung up before the automated voice gets far.

Grrr

Depends, I know we get all sorts on our landline, (which I never enter comps with) about PPI and we have been taken off records, maybe they are calling numbers at random :/

    Annoying - I understand! x

It's not the calls per se that pee me off, it's the fact that either ITV or the times are playing fast and loose with the data protection act.

Also the number is on the TPS, so someone at the PPI company is also breaking the rules

The telephone number wasn't compulsory on the Times comps, would you have even entered it?

You need to find out if that's how they got your number first and if so complain the the Information Commissioners Office

Doesn't have to be either, the worst of the PPI scum call random numbers so no one is safe (TPS makes no difference to the filthy money grabbing dirtbags).

We keep getting loads of charities calling us asking for money and asking us to do surveys.

My mum thought it's from the comps I'm entering but I only put my mobile number in.

We can get about 2-6 witheld/international/unrecognised calls each day usually.

We do too, and I only use my mobile for comps (it never rings though :()
I think it's completely random, and I also think they should bring in rules to stop them pestering folk. Had 3 in 5 minutes today, they are all a pain in the bum.

I've never had problems from either - make sure you tick the right boxes - or as others said it could just be random.
