Hello,
Im not sure if this is the right area to ask this but my parents have had a 1/52th timeshare in a villa (they own 1 week at year). They have to pay management fees each year. They have been told that the liability will pass to my sister and myself when they die. Is this legal?
Thanks for any information
Tim

Presumably you will also inherit the one week a year?0

It is possible to just renounce the timeshare and walk away, if you're no longer able to pay the management fees, although I'm not sure how easy it is.
I found this which indicates the difficulties if your parents bought it 'in perpetuity'.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Sounds like we are stuck with it. Not happy about it, they need to try and get rid.
Any ideas what I can do?It is possible to just renounce the timeshare and walk away, if you're no longer able to pay the management fees, although I'm not sure how easy it is.

I have refused to pay the annual maintenance charge for my timeshare at Cameron House Loch Lomond owned by de Vere. They are threatening to put the matter in the hands of a debt collctor. Can they do this, and has this happened to any board members?0

Hello
We also have a weeks timeshare at Cameron house and cannot use it anymore. When speaking to the Ownership team they said they would not take it back and we were liable for all fees. (now all of a sudden theyre not so friendly)
From having a look about I see absolutely no way of getting out of this situation. There is no market for selling or even giving away a timeshare.
Easilyparted - Have you had any progress in handing back your week
thanks0 -
It's a case of reading the terms and conditions BEFORE you sign any contract - and of course not many of us wade through the pages of small print which these companies take care not to tell us about. usually, you have to search through their websites to find them and then give up on about page four.
And as far as the prostitute goes, nice idea but I bet there's something in the terms and conditions about not running a business from the accommodation.0 -
