So There I Was Looking For Shrek 2 On EBay....

.... Looking for one of the more feature filled issues, having not bought "run of the mill" goods for a while off EBay, I realised, it just ISN'T worth the effort!!
Twenty minutes trawling through reams of tat, pish poor listings, pirated copies, imported malay/Indon/Chinese copies, etc, etc, etc, and I thought.... !!!!!! am I wasting my time here for? Selling collectibles I just never realised how bad EBay had become for run of the mill, off the shelf, DVD's, CD's, PS2 games, etc, etc.
Yes I know EBay are coining it in, but for how long? surely when the tat reaches a certain level, genuine goods are just not going to sell.
Not really a rant, because as a seller of collectibles I am not affected by anything other than fees, and the fees are worth every penny.

i to hate looking for cds and dvds on ebay you never know if they are a copy or not.
I have sold a few but i never ever use the stock photo that you can have with cds and dvds always picture the actual one that i have here and leave my lovely carpet round it so people can actually see that i own the item and its real etc... i also try and get the hologram in as well if i can.0 -

Yes, I always use own pics when say clearing out the young lads PS2 games, he keeps them in A1 condition, and it pays dividends, however, there will come a point when folk looking for genuine goods will give up, and only those looking for pirated/copied goods will be bidding.

I made a similar post to this a while back as I was looking for Hellboy on dvd and 8 out of the first 10 items were fakes and the other two were buy-it-nows that cost more than it was selling for in the shopsTitch

Totally agree that something needs doing to get rid of all the crap in the popular sections.0

I think that it will be quite some time before ebay reaches a tipping point - as long as it keeps making money (from people selling & buying tat/fake/etc) it will allow them to continue to list.
Once buyers start falling off, then sellers will disappear, then ebay might do something...(like put up listing fees to remaining sellers!!!)0 -

The whole process will of course be accelerated by the ever increasing instances of fee avoidance..... Less fees paid..... Less Profit..... Fees Increase..... Genuine goods stop being listed..... More Tat..... More fee avoidance..... What little regulation there is goes to the wall..... The whole thing implodes. The MSE Dictionary
