Burnt on slow cooker

Hope someone can help
On Sunday I put a pork joint in my slow cooker with reggee reggee cooking sauce to make pulled pork, went out for the day and when I got back it had burnt on, it won't come off :( I've tried soaking it in hot water with washing up liquid and also last night I left it in hot water and bicarbonate of soda
Still wont shift, you can't even scrape it its that bad
Just thought I'd see if anyone knows a wonder cure before I bin it

  • A few ideas:

    1. try using the bicarb dry (without any water in the SC) as a souring powder.
    2. Try putting some vinegar in and then putting the SC on low or warm and leaving for a bit.

Hopefully someone else will know a failsafe way--I've used both of the above methods to clean saucepans when I burned things.
  • OK, I don`t have an answer but just posting to say Hang ON, don`t bin it because there`s bound to be someone here who knows. Meanwhile, I`d keep it soaking while waiting to hear the cure.
  • I usually use bleach and that is often lol

    hi yummymummy,
try covering the burnt bits with hot water, dissolve some washing soda in it, simmer for a while then leave to soak for a bit & see if that loosens or dissolves it

    good luck :)

EDIT ... the bio powder sounds like a good idea, I'd give that a go first

Try a broken up dishwasher tablet and fill with water, let it cook on high for a few hours (ask around, if you don't have a dishwasher)
    That should soften/shift it.

try Fairy power spray. Spray it on and leave it for a few hours.
    This stuff is really good.
    Hope this helps
  • Thankyou for the replies :)
Im going to try them all as I really dont want to throw it away as its a big slow cooker and there not cheap :(
Its not all over the bottom just at either side but its really black and hard
Ill have to buy some dishwasher tablets as we havent got one and i dont know anyone with one either, will also get some of the power spray but im going to try the cheaper things 1st ;)

I do hope the pork was nice and not spoiled!
Almost certainly this is burned sugar. I think you will find it needs a lot of goes with the water & leaving on warm overnight (not sure if any of the jollops will work but all worth a try).
I would get a scraper (the kind you use to clean widows after painting, or ceramic hobs) and very gently work at the edges of the burned on sauce. At first it won't show much, but as you soften each layer with warm water, a tiny bit more will scrape off (I know you have tried scraping, but think this kind of thin, sharp blade might work, apologies if you have tried one)
    Good luck!
