BT Cancellation Charges UNFAIR!

I'm moving from our current address to another address next month. I want to continue with my phone line but won't be using broadband anymore - only using 3G on iPad and iPhone these days.
I've told BT this and asked to cancel the infinity contract but they have told me either I pay £400+ to cancel early or else take a broadband option at the new premises under a new contract.
Can they force me to do that?

When did you take out the new contract and how long was it for?
If you are still in the minimum term, then yes they can charge you a cancellation fee.0 -
You cannot expect to change your commitment simply because you move. They are being fair in offering to let you move without penalty - but the quid pro quo is that you restart the same services with the same minimum term (18 months of BB, and 12 months for landline running concurrently).0

Moving home (your choice, not BT's ) does not void your contract without penalty. You have the option to take the services with you.
Infinity has high start-up costs due to the equipment and engineer install, hence the longer 18m minimum term contract-and higher ETC
Why 'Unfair'? BT would say that it is 'unfair' for you to break your contract without compensating them.No free lunch, and no free laptop
