Cheapest way to sell a few shares

In the last century I was awarded a few shares (about 15 to be precise) in ITV plc as part of employment.

At the time they were about 20p. Today, 122p - so not alot, but I was wondering is there a way to sell them without incurring charges that will wipe the proceeds out?

I have the share certificate and capital registrars address.

    Sign up with them (free).
Make a normal trading account rather than ISA (assuming you don't regularly use your capitain gains allowance).
Deposit your share certificate with them.
    Sell for £6.
Withdraw the money and close the account (it is free for non-ISAs I believe).

Capita occasionally do exercises to cleanse the register of people like you - they probably spend more annually servicing your holding (sending you AGM bumph, dividend cheques, tax slips, etc) than your shares are even worth.

If you sit tight you may eventually get an offer to sell for something like 20-30p per share. Or ITV will get taken over by someone else and you'll get paid out that way.

Or if you don't want the money and just want rid, http://www.sharegift.org/ is an easy way of donating them to a good cause.
