£600 Santander Fees
££££
I have a current account with Santander (originally Alliance & Leicester). I stopped using it in Jan 2012 due to terrible service and switched to First Direct, I was £5.33 overdrawn.
Feb 2013 I get a letter from Santander stating my balance is now £605.83 overdrawn. The account has not been used for 13 months - this is entirely fees.
I called to complain to the collections department and was holding / talking for one hour. They offered to reduce the fees to £137.00, which I still refused to pay. They are claiming they didn't have my current address (which is untrue) and that was their reason for not sending me notice of these fees.
I feel that they have let me down as their customer, and I am thinking that taking them to the small claims court would be the best course of action.
Does anyone have any similar experience or advice on this subject?
Thanks

why did you never pay the original £5.33 overdraft ?credit card bill. £0.00
overdraft £0.00
Help from the state £0.000 -
It was an oversight, I thought it was all paid off when I stopped using the account, but a delayed payment for an item went though and I didn't check the balance again.0

isn't this just admitting liability that it was was your fault? if you say this in a small claims court i'm not sure how you expect to win.It was an oversight, I thought it was all paid off when I stopped using the account, but a delayed payment for an item went though and I didn't check the balance again.
perhaps just pay the £137 and just forget about it?0 -
I may be wrong but I thought that a Small Claims court was where you went when you were trying to claim money from an individual or a business. Since you are the person who owes money as a result of your own oversight I doubt that you will find this avenue open to you.0
