What on earth is Skills Conditionality?

Really, what on earth is it?

First of all I received a letter last Friday, it said I'm apparently now on Skills Conditionality scheme, it also said I've received a letter about it before which I haven't, honestly it made no sense at all.

I phoned up the JCP and repeatedly asked them if they could tell me what it's about, both people I spoke to just said I'd need to speak to my adviser, problem is I haven't seen him since just before Christmas, there was a lot of that heavy snow and he didn't come in then (even though I walked there still), after the near month another appointment was made and on the day I was told he wasn't in and that was it, an appointment was made yet again for 2 weeks later, and only on the day I was supposed to see him again did they tell me they booked an appointment with the wrong adviser and would make a new one so I should just sign on as normal. After that on the same day yet again I was told he broke his foot that very day (coincidence?) and so I'm now meant to hopefully see him again next week.

I've found nothing really what it's meant to be about anywhere, except for a lot of programmed and pasted things that I don't understand.

Does anyone know what Skills Conditionality is?
I know it said on the letter something about it's to do with missing skills I need for work I have no idea what they even mean ANSI think I'd know if I was missing anything myself.
Also does anybody know if it would be set in my local area, or am I going to have to somewhere near Bermuda triangle for whatever this is?

One last quick note, what should I do if want to change my adviser to someone else? I know 9/10 of advisers are a bit arrogant, but I'd still like to go see one when I'm supposed to and I haven't seen my current adviser for well over two months now.

As I understand it, you may have to go on courses to improve your skills, in order to continue to receive benefit.
The courses should be accessible to you - nothing really you can do other than to see your adviser next week.
  • I would hope it is in local area seeing as I can point out over 10 training facilities and 2 colleges that I can get to, if they can't find me something within there they've lost their minds, I'd be happy if they sent me somewhere just to do something like maybe redo English and Maths?

I liked that link, pointed out some interesting facts.

I only wish I could get more concrete information on this though.

I mean what if my adviser isn't there again for whatever reason? Because sadly you can't talk to sign on people about this, they are only there to really flick your book an tell you to go.

I hope as well it won't involve something silly like CV writing skills, as if the other dozens of times really helped me out.
  • I know this is a fairly old post, but I have just been told I need to go on one of these 'skills conditionality' courses and the course that they have put me on is a course called 'Employability Lets Go!, which would will explain to me how to prepare CV, cover letters and interview techniques, these are not the real problem, the problem is actually getting the job interviews, what courses can help you with that and then the finality of actually gaining a job in the finality.

You get job interviews through a good cv/ application form - it sounds like this is the course for you.
