HELP! I want to pay my bill!
Ok so I'm with EDF energy and in November last year I had my meter swapped from a prepayment to a credit meter. Even since then, they have failed to update my account with the new meter details, hence I have been unable to setup a direct debit to pay or set up any sort of payment plan. I know at the end of this I will be getting a massive bill and I've spent no end of time trying to sort this out. I think it's completely unacceptable to take 4 months to complete something which seems so simple. Their service is so bad I am strongly considering leaving them. I want to ask for a discount on my bill, but not sure if they will give me this?

As long as you have an account number, you can if you wish make a lump sum payment to your account at any time, by posting a cheque, at the bank or on the phone by debit card.
Why would you expect to get a discount if you are enjoying free credit in the meantime? Since you were aware of the lack of DD from the outset, are you not putting the money aside each month pending the bill?
Have you spoken to EDF about the delay-what is the justification? Remember that the supplier does not own the meter, so it may be an issue with the DNO or meter owner. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

And are you sure EDF don't own the EDF branded meter which the man in the EDF uniform with the EDF van installed?0 -
Of course I have been keeping aside the amount I used to put on the prepayment meter each month - assuming it would be roughly the same. The reason I want a discount is the amount of time I have spent trying to sort this out. Of course I have contacted them - about 6 times in the last 4 months. They have no justification, just that there must be some sort of backlog. Free credit would be nice if I had asked for it, but I have to be prepared to pay at anytime so I'm not reaping any rewards from it.

It depends if they are the mops for your area, are you in london area?Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
Yes I am in London0

You entirely miss the point. Not every EDF customer is metered by EDF, it depends on your region.
You are reaping rewards-you have free credit, and you are presumably earning some interest on the money being saved each month.
However, given the length of time this has gone on, I'd put in a complaint and then take it to the Ombudsman after the requisite 8 weeks if not resolved.
But don't expect much compensation other than a small goodwill payment. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
