they sniffed them, licked them, and are now munching/chewing. pulling the skin off them.
I put 5 chicken wings down for the 3 cats, but I think 1 each will be enough.
The only thing, they are over the chicken floor:rotfl:
I had to nip into mr T so bought a pack there for £2.41, also bought some frozen fish and a tin of pilchards in brine.
Then called in the co-op and their chicken wings were reduced to 75p a pack:mad: so I bought the 4 packs that were there:rotfl: which are now in the freezer, either for the cats or us:D
going to the butchers tomorrow morning to get some hearts..
I go through 3 large tins of cat food a day, which is approx £1.50 ish a day, so I dont think its going to be that much more to feed them fresh meat/fish
:j:j:j:j:j Aw, how lovely they are enjoying themselves: 75p a pack is great!
Yes half to one wing per cat is good depending if it's a meal or snack. If you get some poultry shears (or you have a good cleaver) and chop the wings in the middle of bone they may well crunch up almost all of it not just the meat and skin.
Some people feed on an old bath sheet or dust sheet, some feed in the garden in summer. I used to mostly mop up with antibacterial wipes, but that was one cat not three.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
They munched the thinner part of the wings, I think I might cit the wings in half/2 sections. which might make them eat the whole part, rather than eat a bit of one, and then go onto the other one.
As I normally got dried food down all the time, and then they have wet food tea time/evening, I Will try 3 small meat/fish meals.
in the morning before we go to work, tea time, and then in the evening.
Must admit, I think the chicken wings will be once or twice a week, until the novelty wears off with them, as they did have them all over the floor, and did try bringing them into the living room:eek::eek:
good job we are not house proud:cool::rotfl:
I think it will be hearts and fish tomorrow for themWork to live= not live to work0 -
Chicken wings are £1.80 at our butcher, chicken hearts around £2.50 and liver same. So far hearts are most popular with 3 spoiled and quite old cats. They are very happy with raw meat in the evenings but would not touch it in the morning and demand very loudly to be given dry food and gravy pouch(jelly pouches are always left on their plates and gets thrown away).
I do get cheap cat food via biggest pet food manufacturer but would like to get my cats to eat only raw food. Might be loosing battle but I will continue trying.
Now need to find easy way to brush their teeth as well- do not think they will be allowing me to do any of it at all.0 -
I need to ask if any of the butchers do pet mince now I have found some I trust. Lulu delicately pick at the little bits of raw I gave her, but not having a reliable supply by the time I adopted her I didn't persevere. She loves her grub, loves to play and 'hunt' so I think she could go for the pet mince. I didn't think to give her any of the chicken liver or raw pork I had recently!
Noah was easy, he scarfed down the raw pet mince when I could still get that, happily chomped away on chicken wings and legs, pork kidney and liver, chicken hearts and even rubbery tripe _pale_.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
I think, with the same with our food, and shopping its all been driven by the ease of just opening a tin/packet and cost, and to drive down the cost of either pet food or human food, things have to be added.
By the looks of it with cat/pet food its water, and only 4% meat.
in reality would you buy a tin/product that was advertised as chicken chunks in jelly and found out it had only a 4% actual meat content ( if this was a product for human consumption)
Our cats are indoor cats now, as there is a huge supermarket built literly on our door step:o:o and one of our cats it used to be her 'hunting' ground.
so where as before she used to munch and crunch on all sorts when she was out, now she doesn't so in a way it does make sense to feed her raw etc. ( the other two cats we have, 1 is a kitten the other one is a stray, which turned up on the same day as the kitten, looking sooooooooooooo thin and pittiful, and a flea collar trapped around her neck and leg, which cut into her leg, )
anyway sorry for side tracking....
Going back to tinned cat food, what about the giant tins of dog food 1200g ? they are 89p at the moment in mr T . I know the protein levels are different, but maybe a suppliment of maybe raw meat/heart once a week? ( cue for fire fox to let us know)Work to live= not live to work0 -
what about Iceland beefburgers 50p at the moment for 8. my cat loves them!!
also loves cheap tins sardines/pilchards etc!0 -
My old cat who recently had to be put to sleep loved baked beans in tom sauce - not sure why but she did and she would sit and watch while you ate your dinner etc, then when you finished would meow and I'd say now you can have a lick or nibble and away she would go. I always used to leave a little on my plate for her. She was 18 when she was PTS.
Damian my one and only hunts mice and brings them in often, but has not mastered the eating them part as yet. Mind you he was an indoor only cat when we got him, but he loves going out and exploring now. I might see if he will eat a chick wing at some point.0 -
This website gave me most information when I was doing my research on raw food for cats benefits. I will not take it to same level as the author but few bits I have adopted already and will buy some FortiFlora to see if this will make my cats to eat more raw food.

Lily is a big cat so upgraded her a few months back to a jumbo litter box. She is indoor over late autumn to early spring (she hibernates!!).
I put in roughly 15l of Catsan. I've been surprised at how little I must change over the whole box and using so much litter I now have to dig for the poo (she's not one to cover it up) because there is so much litter in there in gets covered up when she moves around.
Luckily she has a habit of peeing at the front and pooing at the back so I always know where to go!
