I learnt that from one of my older neighbours. Our local soil is alkaline so gives pink hydrangeas but I noticed that his were generally blue so asked if he fed them with acid loving plant feed or blueing agent. He said no he just sticks lots of old six inch nails in the ground around the base of the plant:)

I'm not sure it can completely blue them but can help. When I worked I used to be able to get aluminium sulphate from work which is one of the chemicals that will change them from pink to blue in alkaline soil.

I bought vanilla fraise hydrangeas last year. They start off with amazingly white flowers that turn a soft pink then before they die the pink turns really dark. They are truly amazing flowers! and work hard for their money......Im liking the look of hydrangea glam rock:eek:.....bold colours

Im going to bed now. we have had a hard time with youngest Ds tonight :( autusm and learning difficulties has made us shed a few tears tonight....and that makes me tired :( grateful as ever for the distraction :) and the good company

well artha, all I will say is, glad u don't know what a party wall surveyor is or indeed what they do, shows u have not been done over by a nasty neighbour...when a neighbour tries to 'get their way' I stop them and I try to be the peacemaker, thats what I do:)

Imagine if your neighbour tried to encroach on your property, I would deal with it or indeed the other way round, if you were trying to build on your land, to the front of rear of your home and your neighbour was being an a$$ I'd sort them out:)

Could have done with you a few years ago when I was having an extension built that my neighbour objected to for no obvious reason other than sheer spite. He even had a tape measure out to check that my wall was the right distance from the boundary. When he found it wasn't (or so he thought) he called the planners, who sent out an inspector who agreed and told my builder to demolish the wall. Only found this out when I returned home after work one day.

I was:mad::mad: when I discovered he had taken the measurement from the fence (which had moved over the years) and not the middle of the party wall. I got onto the planners, fuming, and they then backtracked and denied having told my builder to demolish the wall and agreed that there was no case to answer and I could have the wall rebuilt:mad:

Couldn't sleep :(. Unplugged my mobile which had been on charge and found a FB message from lady at dog rescue saying that Bess had settled in nicely with the lady who came to see her on Monday after falling in love with her photo, and that Molly was being rehomed, as I already knew from their website. A lovely family had come to see Molly and they got on well, they loved Molly and Molly responded lovely to them, so they are staying overnight then taking her home with them tomorrow to DORSET  The dogs are advertised countrywide through a national site as well as on their website, but it good to know that this family were willing to travel all that way to see her and take her home

I am happy that they both sound like they will be very well looked after in loving homes

I am so sad that I will never see them again and that I had to do this, but dogs adapt so well, and they will be happy, as will their new families, so all is good :D

And now, I am going to try to get to sleep - night night my lovelies
    :( Mr 3Dogs 3-7-12 :( 3Dogs'Mam 31-3-13 :(
