    Taken from paid to shop

    Coming nationwide in march!

TESCO is planning to roll out an unprecedented Price Promise nationwide as supermarkets fight for cash-strapped shoppers.

Britain’s biggest supermarket is launching a scheme that reimburses customers at the till if their shopping bill is greater than it would have been at a rival chain.

Shoppers will get a voucher with their receipt capped at a TENNER. The scheme has been trialled in Northern Ireland since November.

But bosses plan to roll it out across England, Scotland and Wales from March 11. Critically it will compare branded AND own-brand products across ASDA, SAINSBURY’S and MORRISONS.

Tesco refused to comment yesterday. But a spokesman said: “We’re continually looking for new ways to help our customers keep the cost of their shopping down.”

Experts claim Tesco’s move could herald a bloodbath as the big four supermarkets try to keep customers away from discounters ALDI and LIDL.

Recent figures showed Aldi’s sales were up 30 per cent, and Lidl 11.9 per cent, over the four weeks to February 17. But Tesco’s takings fell 0.4 per cent over the same period.

Sources claim both Tesco and Morrisons are asking suppliers to help fund new campaigns.

Sainsbury’s has been the strongest performer of the year, in part because of a similar “Brand Match” promotion that gives customers coupons at the till. Asda has a ten per cent price promise.

Retail analyst Steve Dresser said: “Tesco’s move is the logical next step for them.”

    Happy birthday snap

We share the day and I was offered a trip to ikea today but declined as need to save a bit more first.

I have realised ikea is a place I have to avoid, so many lovely things it sends me demented, I could spend an entire day there if oh would let me. He is obsessed with meatballs, horse or no horse so it will be months before we go again.

Oh and had birthday text from my bank, why do they do this.
Also airwick sent me a birthday coupon for £1 so a good excuse to sign up with them. And of course I get to go in bodyshop for my freebie which I might coincide with their special event days wed to fri this week.
