Ive had some quotes from really moving.co.uk
Prices are ranging from £450-600
Going to ring them up, but what should I check, make sure what's included etc. will one differ to another?

Is this for a homebuyers survey? If so take a look on google a few company will give illustrations of the report and what to expect etc0

Went onto reallymoving.com and has come back with a few choices
I've contacted these for email confirmation
Prices vary some what, ie £450 to £650
Yes this is building / structural survey, next stage up to RICS home buyers0 -
To give you a rough idea, I'm porting a mortgage with natwest, homebuyers and valuation is costing us £580.
I always assumed a homebuyers that everyone checked for the same thing, but I could well be wrong.0 -
When I was getting my Mortgage in principle nationwide for a £300k+ house valuation is circa £350 and homebuyers £650
But as the building is older I'm thinking of a full building structural survey0 -
This is good advice:

You must make the right choice of survey and surveyor if you are staking your money on the reliability of the information you get. Like motor reports, surveys tend to just put in get out clauses for anything they are disinclined to examine - which usually includes anything to which there is no easy access. Dont expect much in the way of redress if the professional opinion you get is wrong either [bitter personal experience]Life is like a box of chocolates - drop it and the soft centres splash everywhere0 -
That's where I struggle
It's based on viewers opinions even though they have tick list from RICS
Ie a car MOT has guidelines, but a friend had one MOT with x number of advisories whilst getting it retested else where the other inspector didn't pick it up.
Paying more on a subjective matter isn't always going to be better is it, or is it I get what I pay for?0 -
Quotes coming in on building survey please note its on an old 3 bed house
Also building survey excludes reinstatement for insurance costs and market valuation versus homebuyers pack
£450 including valuation
£650 + a little bit more for valuation
£810
£900+vat

After getting a LOT of quotes, I've just had a survey done via Fridaysmove. They seem to have a list of surveyors they contact themselves to book the survey. So they're a bit of a middle man (and presumably take a cut from the fee paid to them.)
I'd read some bad reviews of their conveyancing service, so was a bit worried about whether they were going to do a good job (as the total price for a full structural survey was £450) but so far, so good. They passed my details on to Leo Horsfield Surveying and they happened to have a cancellation the next morning – so my survey was carried out about 18 hours after my offer on the house was accepted. The surveyor called me today to cover the main points, and is sending through the full survey in the next couple of days. Maybe I just got lucky, but I've been impressed so far. Hope that helps!0
