What should an average electricity bill be?

I live in a student house with 3 others, and we're with npower. Our latest electricity bill for 3 months is £210, and the last one was just over £200. Most things in the house are electric as far as I know, but things like the oven and hot water use gas. Is this too much for the 4 of us?

Apparently someone (friend of one I share house with) said they live in a student house of 7, and their last electricity bill for the quarter was £120, so that's just under £6 per person per month? Whereas ours is about £16 pppm

I don't know what provider they are with, or whether they use more gas (surely you can't get many gas powered utilities these days?) but it just doesn't seem right that there's such a big difference?

I'm rather confused over this - any help much appreciated! :)

Is your heating electric then? And is the house well insulated would you think?

Have you checked the meter readings against the meter?

These two quarters will probably be your biggest use quarters due to the heating (if that's electric) and it'll come down a lot from now on.

If the other house's heating and hot water is gas then that maybe ok (sounds quite low to me though, it depends if their meter readings on their bills match to what's on the meter too.
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)

Heating is gas, and no the house's insulation is awful - no double glazing and heat never seems to stay around for long :/

I've not checked the readings myself, but the last bill was a reading by npower.

Our gas bill was only around £40, which in comparison is really low...unless electricity is a lot more expensive than gas?

I don't know exactly what's gas and what's electric in the other house, but in comparison we seem to be paying a lot more and something's probably not right :/
