The poster I've quoted above had bumped it - presumably for advice on selling (or maybe because they were after a Sassi Holford 'Samantha'), so no need for the comment...some people on this board have been planning for years, so 12 months is nothing!

Gosh I think people took me the wrong way....
I meant 'lowest of the low' in the way it was bottom of the list i.e
New Designer Dress
New Dress but cheap
Sample Dress
2nd hand (sure theirs more in-between but you catch my drift)
Not that it was the worse thing you could do but more that if people had the £300-£500 people wanted for a second hand dress they have better options then buying one that has been worn before, ofc on that off chance you get someone who just falls in love with your dress then you may hit lucky and sell it for £300+ but most give up and start selling for £100 etc.
I've just brought one off facebook for £75, waiting for it to come...not getting my hopes up as I've had so much bad luck lately and people lying etc .... but it's 95% like the dress I wanted and I couldn't afford the real thing.
I should try and explain myself better in future... lol :-)People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Incidentally, if anybody has a White Rose R704 dress in size 12 or 14 I'd love to hear from you :-)0

NiallB - http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/109704577/lace-fishtail-strapless-wedding-dress-vintage-style-uk-12.html just found this.Officially saved enough to cover the cost of our wedding! :A0

Tillyena, thanks for looking :-)
We've seen that one and unfortunately the measurements are too small. The search continues!0 -
What a cheek - i bought a second hand Maggie Sottero because i wasn't prepared to pay over £1000, not because i couldnt afford to. If the dress is immaculate, its better to buy second hand quality, rather than new tat. I paid £75 for the same effect.
I think Kayalana99 is being somewhat patronising... people have different priorities. I did a photoshoot with a girl who had done exactly the same as you. She bought a £1000+ dress for less than the original owner had paid for the cleaning. It seems wasteful but, as far as she was concerned, it was cheap enough to throw away after she'd worn it!:eek:0 -

If you were to apply that to cars, the hierarchy would be:
New Mercedes
New Skoda
ex demo Mercedes
used Mercedes
I think some people might prefer a 2nd hand Mercedes to a new Skoda...0 -

I'm not being patronising, I just didn't explain myself properly, I've even said that I've brought a dress 2nd hand myself I am with the rest of them that it seems mad to spend £1000 + on a dress just for a few hours.
+ Wedding dresses are not cars, it's not the same thing.
Everyone has different opinions on things but with cars its normal to buy second hand but with dresses theirs always the worry that it might have beads coming away and you can't walk into a shop and look though loads you like and get a feel for the dress before you buy it (cause lets face it a 2nd hand dress is more likey to be brought online without you being able to see it unless its a shop pre loved one)
You can argue what order you'd prefer that list to be in but when you see 2nd had dresses worth over £1000+ sold for less then £200 it basically proves my point.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
I too am attempting to sell my dress.
It is 'second hand' in the sense that I owned it first but I have never worn it (other than at the initial appointment - in the store!). I am very sad not to have the chance to wear it myself as it is absolutely beautiful but I would hate even more to see it go to waste.
It is a full lace gown with sweetheart neckline and sweeping train and I am sure it will make a bride somewhere very happy!
It was initially £1195 but I am happy to sell it at a reasonably discounted price if it means I can sell it sooner rather than later. It is still in its original protective bag and am also willing to pay for postage if the price is right!
I have listed mine on Preloved & eBay, I have also had a go at listing it on 'Undress' - a used wedding dress forum hosted on the 'Rock My Wedding' blog.

Sorry! It's funny though that when somebody does a trash the dress shoot, there are immediately lots of comments about it should have been "donated to somebody less fortunate" or there are thousands of women who can't get married because they can't afford a nice dress etc. If there is such a demand, why are they so cheap on eBay? People seem to be willing to cut corners on the photographer but not the dress, then they complain about getting rubbish photos!0
