  • Also it was only 2 weeks ago that i went to this dressmaker, its not a great amount of time, im not expecting all of the money back, even if she was to give me 400 and take he 350 out for materials that she can keep then i would agree to this, she gets some free materials to use and i get half my money back. i really dont think im being unreasonable

I would also be wanting the material in exchange for the £600

Whilst I can understand her wanting to be reimbursed for her time, £600 seems unreasonable.

Why should she try to find another bride for your fabric?

its lace, used in most dresses at the minute, maybe if you ever find yourself in the same situation youll think differently

I doubt it, I'm 52 and have been happily married for 27 years. A lace frock would be a bit mutton for me.

Because she has a duty to mitigate her losses
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

I do think you are being unreasonable. She has effectively put aside two weeks to make your dress, and may have turned down other work as a result of this. By all means ask for the material that she has bought, or for her to refund you for the material if she uses it in the future, but I don't see that she should be out of pocket due to your change of mind.

OK, allow me to re-phrase the question.

Why would she try to find a buyer for your lace?
