This company is charging £266.40 for Cambelt & Tensioner + £92.40 for water pump = 358.5 let us say £360.

    so £360 + £219 major service = £579.

That is £271 cheaper than the offer I've got.

But I did search for reviews about this company and i found someone was complaining about SEAT cam belt job he had with them:

I am still not sure where to go, sometimes they say you get what you pay. Sometimes paying less is considered as saving money and sometimes means cheap finishing or less experience.

is there any website help finding independent garages in London?

I had a quote for my 2003 1.6 16v Golf from our local VW dealer 2 weeks ago as i need to change my cambelt/water pump(Crawley)
Genuine Cambelt Kit £156 Waterpump £38 (the 16v kit has 2 belts 2 tensioners and 2 idlers) and it took me 3 hours last time i changed the belt myself on my wifes 1.6 16v golf 4 and i am only a self taught home mechanic

The place that quoted you nearly £360 for parts are ripping you off
As you have spent £1500 ove the last 3 years you have probably had a lot of the servicing done which is probably included in their 60000 service, probably want to do a 60000 service hoping to find lots of parts to replace

Also before christmas they were doing Cambelt Changes for any VW up to 2.0 ltr for £339 including parts and labour or £399 with a Waterpump

The OP's quote of £360 is the cost of doing the complete job including replacing the waterpump, not just the cost of the parts.

Sorry misread that, still £92.40 is still way over the top as its a 5 minute job to change the Water Pump when the Cambelt is off for replacement

Still to answer the OP's origional question it is worth fixing your car if you can get it done for a reasonable cost, £850 should be the cost for doing the job twice

92.40 is very reasonable for a full cambelt kit, especially since they will use the best quality parts and not cheaper aftermarket ones. although the quality is all the same buying oe parts gives you warranty on the cambelt unit so if it fails and causes engine damage they will fix it all for you - good luck getting them on independant garages using cheap £60 units.
