Windows 7 Backup

The backup status on Windows 7 Control Panel seems pointless to me, it's showing when the last backup was due rather than when it was made!
I have a backup schedule set for Sunday at 17.00. I didn't do one last Sunday, so I've just done one now. When I look at the status it's already showing last backup as last Sunday before I start. Once the backup starts it shows next backup as "in progress" but shows last backup as 11.27 today, even before the backup has finished!
Am I missing the point somewhere?
