thomas cook extension on balance due date

Hi,
Has anyone ever asked / got an extension on their due date for the outstanding balance on a thomas cook holiday
My pal is hoping for a 2wk extension, it says on her receipt "overdue payments attract a £25 fee in addition to any fees the operator may charge" etc we have googled this and can find a live chat type help page with thomas cook staff, but can only find info on it from a few years ago
I have also booked a holiday with thomas cook and it does not mention the late fee.
Any one tried and got it, or tried and failed?

Where have you booked your holiday, in a Thomas cook shop, online or call centre. If you've booked it in a shop are you a regular customer, how much does your friend owe. If booked in a shop thats the easiest to deal with, go in see the manager explain the situation. For example if she owes £2000 but has £1000 and can't get the rest for 2 weeks then tell them this pay the £1000 and tell them what date you can get the rest but stick to your agreement. The £25 late payment is printed on all balance reminder letters now. Or if the amount your friend owes is less than £1000 she could use a credit card to pay it as the charge for a credit card is 2.5% which would be less than the fine.0

Thank u
She booked it in a shop and will owe around 700 on a 3000 balance and is looking an extra 12 days to pay.0 -
Tell her to go in explain the situation be honest she just needs 12 days, she should be fine, better than ignoring it, that would get the managers back up.0

She needs to go in and speak to someone about authorising an extension. If she doesn't, Thomas Cook are quite within their rights to cancel the holiday if it's not paid on time.0 -

They are within their rights to cancel it but its highly unlikely they would until 10 weeks before departure (if its a tc holiday) as thats when its more than loss of deposit, as TC ask for the balance at 14 weeks they have 4 weeks as such to play with. As they only owe £700 on a £3000 booking they wouldnt cancel this before 10 weeks as the manager would have to give the customer back the difference between the deposit and the £2300 that has already been paid and then they've lost the sale, its not good business practise.0 -
That's rite, mine is also due 14weeks bfore hand, and I thought it was longer than previous holidays I booked, so maybe this is the reason why, to give customers some leeway. Thanks everyone, I will pass on ur info to my pal.0

Quick update,
My pal got a 2 week extension from TC and they are not going to charge her the £25 late fee.
She has only £250 left to pay on a holiday just over 3k.
TC were lovely about it all.0 -
Result then, it pays to ask and to be polite. Most places will be reasonable if you explain the situation and make the effort to go and ask, I imagine lots of people work it out by paydays and they don't always occour when you need one!!!0
