Good grief. I've got a cat who has never caught anything. I am very, very lucky after what I have read on here.

I quite like her being a useless, lazy, fat ginger cat!

Our cat has a bell and so far- she had her first birthday last week- she hasn't brought anything home.

Yes, the cat is giving her top cat (you) a present. She obviously loves and respects you!:rotfl:

I have read that playing with her with string, toy mice etc. can help satisfy their hunting instinct a bit (rather than having the effect of training them to stalk prey)

I used to have a cat- a ginger queen- who would bring me worms, and also in autumn dead leaves. She was a wonderful cat, but when I replaced the hall carpet it took me a minute to work out what the little dried up squiggles were underneath the carpet under the radiator.:o

All supermarkets sell cat collars with bells- since it's coming into flea season you could treat her to a flea one too- always making sure that you can fit three fingers down the side of the collar once fitted- this ensures a safe escape when hanging from a tree.;)

Blimey, I'll consider myself lucky. We have 2 cats aged 2 and neither of them has brought prey into the house. Mew did try to bring a starling in through the front door when it was open a few weeks ago, but he soon got sent back out and I did manage to rescue the bird when he let go of it(had a broken wing). My presents are usually mice and they're left in the garden for me!

My tomcat started bring mice home last year. The first time he did it I heard the cat flap go and he came in the living room and dropped it on the floor. It was still very much alive and whilst I was screaming to my hubby to get downstairs pronto he (the cat) delighted in throwing it around the room. He must've found a nest that night as he brought another 2 home during the evening and when I got up the next morning I found half a mouse on the kitchen floor

He likes spiders and anything that flies too - he still chases bees and wasps even after batting one last year and getting stung and ending up with a paw 4x it's normal size.

Last weekend we went away and came home to a dead bird in the dining room. I have no idea how he managed to get it in it was quite big :( The next morning we came down to a half eaten bird and feathers all over. I'm going to get him a couple of bells for his collar but I think they learn to move without their prey knowing. I'm going to try and keep him over night too - this will be hard as he loves playing out but we'll try and tire him out letting him chase string and scrunched up paper before our bedtime.

Glad it's not just my cat! eeeeek

I have got my 2 little scamps collars with bells on this week. My boy cat seems to have stopped bringing me his little gifts now. Although he is picking leaves and petals and bring those in... bless him, much nicer.

My girl is still hunting, but not so much, so hopefully we are now at a more controlled level of hunting. Thanks again everyone x
