Freeview tuner on video

I have set my tv with a freeview box and everything is working fine I can record programme 1 - 5 on my old vhs recorder. I can also watch sky as I have a link. I cannot record the freeview channels. I understand my video recorder must have a freeview tuner to be able to record freeview programmes. Is this correct? My husband can watch terrestrial downstairs and record sky at the same time. I thought freeview will be the same, I must be wrong

Plug the freeview box into the vcr via a scart lead, then set the vcr to record off the AUX (could be 1 or 2) . Put the freeview on whatever channel you want to record, vcr on AUX then press record. If the freeview box has only 1 scart socket, you'll have to watch the freeview channels via the VCR channel on your tv.
Make sense ? Sounds complicated but easy once you've got your head round it.

I presume that means can't set by using timer and can't watch 1 channel and record another ?

unless you have a twin tuner Freeveiw box - that's correct

Thanks thats what I thought. That's why I haven't rushed out to buy a freeview box as I use video a lot. Also because its only recently showing as being partially available(i.e not all freeview channels) in my area.
