Work address for credit purpose

Hello,

For some complicated reason (I cannot discuss here) I can not gain access to my parent's home where my credit card and other bank card is registered.

My credit card company put a temp. block on my current card and when I called them to ask why I was put through to the fraud team which said they suspected an activity on my account and they have re issued a new card and sent to my address.

I was angry and asked why haven't they contacted me first before putting a block on my card but yet they gave same silly excuses.

Anyway, the bottom line is I can't get the new card from home and when I asked if it can be sent to my work place and another bank branch they said NO. They can only send it to my home address I can't gain access to.

I will like to know if it is practically and most of all legally ok to change my address to my work address so I may yet have to card posted to me at work.

Also do you think they had broken the agreement without phoning or email me first to inform me of their suspicion rather than just block my card and not giving me the true reason my they had done so. What if I was abroad and depend on this card?

Thanks for your time and advises. I very much look forward to hear from your guys.

You should always update all people with whom you hold accounts with the address of where you're currently living.

Submit change of address requests with all your accounts and once these have been processed ask for a new card and they'll send it to wherever you're living.

You shouldn't use a work address for a personal account - the bank require your home address.

Alternatively, if you're unfortunate enough to be homeless right now, you could be better off setting up a royal mail redirect.

  • I agree, you must update your address even if it is just a temporary one, I assume you are not sleeping/living at work.
If you are uncomfortable about your card being delivered to where you are staying, would it not be possible to arrange for the card to be sent to your local branch and you go in with some ID to collect it?

most cards are sent out as "do not redirect" IME
the solution for the OP is a free mail collect
if they can provide the required ID and are able to collect
