EAS support group

Hi
I received a letter today to say id been put into the support group,but not had a medical , so was just wondering if anyone knows how long people are placed in the support group, does it have a time limit?

You can be placed in the Support Group for anything from 3 months to 3 years - I would expect towards the latter if you have a condition that is unlikely to change in the near future. Although ESA is an indefinite award, you can get an idea of when to expect reassessment by phoning DWP and asking for the 'prognosis'.

Time in the Support Group is not limited like it is in the WRAG.

My Mum just got put in the Support Group without a medical, On the report it stated that she would not get better and the condition would only get worse, She got placed in the Support group for just 6 months.

We had to ring up Dwp to find this out as they don't seem to put it on the Award letter anymore.

Personally on that basis if she isn't likely to get better only worse and they only awarded the benefit for 6 months, do you think that they know more about your mum's life expectancy than you or she does?

If that had been my dad, I would be straight round to the GP in the morning asking why he has only been given 6 months to live and that nobody in the family had been told!

Well done!!

Alternatively, others that have been in the Support Group for up to 3 years are now finding that on review the DWP are suggesting that they now get a job after ATOS reported them fit and healthy!!

The wonders of modern medical science astound me. I wonder why Britain isn't exporting more of this cure all medicine. It would make Cameron & Co, a small fortune in taxes.

Where does it say she's got six months to live!!!

It is simply saying to reassess in 6 months. Just because it states the condition won't improve and will get worse doesn't mean it's a life threatening illness!!
