which laptop to run xbmc and general stuff

what sort of laptop do I need? I also want to connect to the tv via hdmi. is a i3 processor needed?
I dont mind a refurb or is new best?

I'd suggest avoiding the hotter AMD processors - fan noise will get in the way. Shame, as the built in radeon chips are often better than the intel 3000/4000 for media use (if it was a desktop I'd go for AMD). Low powered i3 would be my choice. Failing that, a pentium dual core, perhaps something like this

get a raspberry pi for your tv ,cost you £50 for pi ,case,sd card and leads,the dearest part will be the remote for it ,
and then watch all the films catch up stuff using the pithere or their,one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0
