Travel agent won't respond, what can I do?

Options
Booked trip last year, hotel and flight.

Have found out about 2 weeks ago that I need to change the return date due to family problem from the Sunday to the Friday before (so 48 earlier).

And that's where the problems started.

The agent I booked with (who was also the manager of the store) is off on maternity leave.
I've spoken with 3 others agents there, all have said they'd look into it, none have ever gotten back to me or will even speak to me a second time!!
I've gone to the airline, who are happy to do the change for me, but need a note adding to the booking saying that the agent gives them authority... So back to square one.
I've tried the agents emergency number (at the suggestion of one of their other branches), the woman there said she'd look into it(!) and get back to me... Nothing, and the number she gave me to call her is wrong...

I'm at a lose how I move forward now?

If the agent won't communicate and the airline can't amend the booking until they do I appear completely stuck??

Anyone have any idea's??

  • I'm currently having problems with a holiday that I booked, it was missold to me. Ive made many phone calls and can understand your frustration when they don't get back to you.

My advice would be (if possible) to go to the travel agent in person, because you can't rely on them ringing you back. Unfortunately for me it would be a 400 mile round trip, which I refuse to do.

    Good luck

Jon, Does the agency you have booked with have a head office? If so, contact them directly, and advise of the situation. I must say though, very strange for the travel agency not to call you back in a situation like this.

    Hi Dave,

The emergency number I used last week was based at their head office and despite being promised a call back by Monday (yesterday) nothing happened!

I've even called local trading standards, and the only advice they could offer was to book a new set of flights and then claim the old set back from the agent! Not the most practical advice I've even been given!!
  • Is this a local agency you can go to in person or an online deal with no offices close to you? Customers making loud comments about poor service in a store/ office tend to get much more attention than those quietly talking at the other end of the phone out of earshot of other prospective customers
