Re-selling of faulty goods.

Would really like some info on this, although it is slightly petty.
I bought a lampshade from B&Q this week, on taking it out of the cellophane I discovered it was very damaged and in fact coming apart at the metal join it had and all the plastic on the inside was dented and out of shape. I returned it and exchanged for a different item (also turned out to be faulty but that's a different story). On returning to store two days later they've put it back on the shelf! It's definitely the one we brought back as there's no cellophane around it and where we cut the barcode out so we could return it they've placed it on top! It's not reduced or advertised as faulty.
I know I have my money back but I'm hacked off as it looks awful and someone else might buy it in a rush and have to spend their fuel to return it too.
Is there any guidelines on whether a store can sell a returned faulty item when it has been raised to their attention without reducing it or making others aware?

Probably.
But really, I wouldn't worry about it. This is the reason why B&Q are poo poo - its their business model.
Only buy your lampshades Wilkinsons :rotfl:0 -
A shop can offer for sale anything in any condition (as long as it is disclosed etc).
If someone offers to pay money for it it is their lookout.
It's hardly like the damage is hidden is it?Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
I'd have been tempted to spoil it even more to make it obvious it was broken, out of camera range, obviouslymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
As long as it's not unsafe I wouldn't have thought that there's any legal reason for them not to attempt to resell it at full price. Shops often sell faulty stuff reduced, and I don't think there would be anything dictating what price shops must sell their stock at, even faulty stock.Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0

That's a shame because I really wanted to go in there and point it out to them and make them look like idiots ... Oh we'll. I'll have to contain my rage on this one.0

You can always stand beside it during opening hours and point it out to every potential purchaser who looks at it. Might be a few long days for you but I'm sure you will manage it.Juliebump92 wrote: »That's a shame because I really wanted to go in there and point it out to them and make them look like idiots ... Speak to the store manager or e-mail head office, point out that you have lost faith in B&Q if they are willing to sell and resell faulty items. Maybe link them to this thread so they can see what bad publicity their actions are.
