Is it possible to move & reuse double glazing, was hoping to use some from the old extn in my outbuilding & move the sliding patio doors to further along the wall to maximise light?.
I know you have to see where the beading is & gently pry it out, but as i won't be doing the job, need to look at costings should the unit blow

No one said it was gonna be easy!

You need to remove the glazed panels by taking out the beading, take the glass out and store it somewhere safe. When you look round the sides of the frame and unscrew the frame fixings. As the frame fixing will have gone through the UPVC one the screw is out you may have to cut off the remaining plastic plug. When all the frame fixings are done with the only thing holding in the rest of the frame will be expanding foam. Cut this away and remove the window.
Once you've got a new home for the window you will just need to renew the frame fixings and expanding foam.
That's the basics anyway.
HTHSome people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0 -
I had a a double glazed window that had been in for a few years taken out and french doors put in, the builder had to brick up the old door and said it would be too dark and will need a window put in.
To save money (his idea) he cut the side window off the upvc one he took out leaving the main window and top opener and fitted it in the doorway.
That window has been fine ever since, 12 years or more so it can be done if you are careful.0
