I want a cheap laptop

Now all I know about pc's and specs is that I turn it on and away I go.

I am after a laptop to use wirelessly so while the mrs is watching her soaps I dont have to sit the other end of the house to be on the pc.

I've had a look on ebay but to be honest it all goes str8 over my head I dont want to be spending a fortune as litterally all i'll be doing is surfing the net. No gaming ect.

Can anyone recommend a laptop in the £2-300 price range that will do the job. Or indeed anyone selling one?

Thanks,

Pete.
I'll get me coat!

From what I remember PC world are doing a pretty well specced laptop for £349 at the moment with Vista home premium and 1gb of ram - seems like a bargain

    Here it is...

    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1571160108.1178538487@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccehaddklidgfelcflgceggdhhmdgml.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=519892&category_oid=-27751

    (hopefully that link works!)

If you reserve online, print out the voucher for free 512mb extra RAM and take it into the store it comes in at £349 with 1GB of RAM :)

Spec probably won't play the very latest shoot em up games but is more than needed for web/email/etc

If it's really only for surfing the Internet. It might be just work picking up a second hand model for £100 or so.

There's lots of them here in Thailand. Only Windows 98SE/Millenium/2000 Pro for that price.

Check this one out. I think it is excellent value for money:

    Or here:

You could also get £10 back if you go through google checkout.

    Hope this helps.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

PCWorld have a Compaq for £399 (being heavily advertised on TV) - bought one a couple of days ago & can't really fault it for the price. It's the cheapest one I could find with both dual core and Vista Premium. You'll find most laptops are wireless these days. Only possible complaint I have is that there are no memory slots free so you're stuck with 1Gb (which Vista needs) unless you 'throw away' a memory chip.
