Mini Extended Warranty
Evening,
I've have a '10 plate Mini Cooper, and it's warranty is due to expire mid March 2013.
Mini/BMW have now written to me, asking if I'd like to extended it for another year - cost wise it's approx £400 a year.
I'd be interested in finding out if any one has taken the plunge with this type of extended warranty, or if anyone can offer any advice.
The options I have are:
MINI Insured Warranty:
Comprehensive
Named Component
DriveLine
MINI Insured Emergency Service (own it's own, or as an add on to the above 3 options)
Thanks for reading!

My friends Cooper S engine needed stripping twice whilst under normal warranty, previous one needed turbo or supercharger can't remember which.
Judge for yourself how 'right' your car feels and performs.
If it feels like relief when it starts and gets you to your destination then maybe it would be worth the cost, but check what exactly is covered, a manufacturers extended warranty should be as comprehensive as new car.0 -
If its not a manufacturers warranty then i wouldnt bother.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

The BMW Extended warranty is excellent, I would not be without it with my X5. The third party warranties from places like Warranty Direct though, may be cheaper but are a nightmare if you need to claim as they look for absolutely anything to refuse liability and it becomes very stressful.
I had an Approved Used Car warranty with my BMW and extended that when it ended, including the BMW Emergency Service, both of which I have found absolutely superb and a number of expensive bits on my now aging X5 have been replaced / repaired under warranty. The BMW Extended Warranty is run via Mondial and only BMW main dealers are used, of your choice, so not like a thrid party warranty. Their Emergency Service has been very sound and very fast when I needed it as well, made the RAC look like a lot of total timewasters - response within 30 minutes and recovery truck liaised with me to collect the car at my convenience when the oil cooler popped, an hour later a loan car was delivered by Hertz all courtesy of the Breakdown policy, no payment required. The loan car is for three days via the policy, then the dealer who has your car for repair has to foot the bill or exchange the hire car for one of their courtesy cars.
While I own a BMW I reckon I will keep that extended warranty going for peace of mind.
I would go with it for the Mini, if it were me........they can develop lots of expensive problems!0 -
Threads like this tend to bring out the truth about some marques.
High image German make's sound like a liability to own, wherever they happen to be made, yet its French cars that are derided whilst Japanese/Korean badges don't impress the gullible.0 -

A few years ago I had a 3 series, and purchased the BMW warranty which was around £600 a year.
By the time I'd had a few things done, I probably broke even over 2 years, however I sold the car, and transferred the warranty to a new owner who had a new gearbox shortly after, so he certainly got his moneys worth!0 -
Thank you everyone for the replies, really been useful.
I'll be going with the Mini extended warranty for peace of mind.
Thanks again!0
