They refuse to send my V5!!!

Options
Hi all

I bought a car a month or so ago, and started to wonder why my V5 hadnt arrived.

I rang up the lady I bought the car off and she is refusing to send it off.

What can I do? And what can she do that she has the V5 still?

Help please

Well it means if you dont tax the car or get done on a speed camera it's her that has to foot the bill.

Sounds a bit fishy to me.

Did you get a reciept for the car when you purchased it??

Or did you pay in any means other than cash (ie - its traceable???)

Did she say WHY she wouldnt send it off? Strange eh. To be honest, I don't ike the way the new V5 doc works where the seller has the responsibility of sending it off. Having paid for the car, the least that you shoudl have is the actual v5 in your hands as it used to be.

Did you get the V5C/2, the new keeper bit?! If you did call the DVLA on 0870 240 0010 and enquire if they have been advised of the transfer to you. They will send a letter to the previous keeper warning of the consequences of non compliance with the transfer process if they have not.

If you didn't get that bit (section 10) of the v5 you are in trouble! You need to ask VERY QUICKLY why she hasn't sent the v5.
    Does she have the V5?
Is she the keeper, ie is it a company registered vehicle, and is she able to sell the vehicle?
Is the vehicle free of HP? I sincerely hope you had an HPI or similar check done on the car before purchase.

You need to act quickly and establish what is actually going on, if there is a problem with the person actually being able to sell you the car then you need legal advice!
Fiscally responsible or just a tight git? :
