I have recently purchased a Lenovo E330 Edge Laptop with Windows 8. When I look at task manager it always says C: is running @ 100%! Is this right? Also, just noticed memory seems to be running @ 73%!

What do you mean C: is running at 100%, is this the part where it shows what data is being written to the drive? If so, you should be able to see which processes are writing the data to the drive and see if they're supposed to be or not.
The memory is likely fine at 73%, the way Windows uses ram changed in Vista and the versions after in. In XP, Windows would only use the ram as programs requested it and released it straight after which meant a lot of ram would sit around unused. Vista, 7 and 8 instead try to take advantage of the ram so it will appear that more ram is being used but the moment any software needs that ram then it will still get it as Windows will release it. This should improve the general performance of the machine without slowing down applications.

The C: is now down to about 10% so not sure what all that is about. I have stopped all automatic windows updates which may have been the cause. This Windows 8 certainly is a character!0

Its normal, that only monitors the C drive while working. Apparently, the more applications you have running at the same time on your pc reflects on the C drive. Dropping to 10% means that at the point the pc is handling less tasks.0
