Hi
I've just ordered a Dell PC with windows Vista Home premium.
I was planning to install Office XP professional on it as I have the disks etc. However I've just read that someone has installed office XP on a vista laptop which has caused it to run slowly.
Is this the case? Will I be better off buying a new version of Office? I'm a bit gutted as apparently the new version of office is different.

Office XP runs fine on my vista lappie...
In fact it came with a free 60 day Office XP trial...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200 -
Don't you mean an Office 2007 trial?

Also, chika: don't bother with Office 2007 - it's all bells and whistles; most of them are pretty useless. Office XP will be fine with Vista

I'd say it'd run just fine on Vista

One thing to be careful of though - if your Office XP discs came with a previous computer (referred to as OEM) rather than a boxed product from the likes of PC World then it's against the terms of the licence agreement to install it on any other computer.

Thank you for your help. I'm glad I don't have to fork out for that! There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.0

One thing to be aware of - our office has stupidly switched to Office 2007 Enterprise, now whenever we email attachments to HQ or to other branches, they can't open them without Office 2007  So, guess what, a full upgrade will have to happen... more money for M$No - it's 2003, sorry - but runs fine with Vista...
