Boat ride on the Thames

Hi I was wondering if anyone could recommend how to do this? I'd rather not do a long cruise. Does anyone know if you can get water taxis? Perhaps that would be better for us. We plan to go on the London eye so could board around there if possible? Also does anyone have any idea of cost? Many thanks

The 'commuter' service is the Thames Clippers which run around every twenty minutes from a number of piers between the London Eye and Woolwich

A single journey is £6, or £5.40 by oyster card, but the best value is to get a 'River roamer' ticket for £13.60 that gives you unlimited on-off travel all day from 9am (and if you are arriving in London by train, you can get two for the price of one via the great days out offer)

Just to add, the commentary on these boats is worth the fare alone
Take one up to woolich, on the return get off at the tower.0 -

Shoot me for getting the boats wrong0 -
Hi there,
last week for half term i took the kids to London.
I bought combined tickets for The London Eye and the 'cruise' along the Thames.
They were both excellent. The boat trip lasted 45 minutes and there was a really great commentary. The jetty for the boat trip is at the Eye and it comes back there too. You can buy tickets for just the boat trip.......look on the London Eye web site....i got really good discount for buying both together.
On the boat you can sit outside/upstairs or downstairs in the warm on comfy seats.....or you can wander around....nice friendly crew too. It isn't something i would normally do but it was really worthwhile.HTHSealed Pot Challenge member 439 :T

Also, just to add, if you use the Greenwich/Embankment/Westminster/London Eye ferry, you can travel for "free" with Tesco Clubcard deals vouchers.
It's a really fun ride - especially up on the roof of the boat.

Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
