We have opended a normal savings account for our young son (8weeks old) we have got a one day account that we can pay what we like in and take out when he likes. I am wanting to consider paying into a child bond plan, where would i go to find the best deals? I have seen a scottish friendly society one at £25 per month (mainly because I can get money back through a referral site) but want to know if there are any other better offers
I know I could use an IFA but want to do it myself
Thanks

Have you thought of a junior isa?Bossymoo

My personal view is not to touch that kind of bond with a bargepole. Inflexible, expensive and poor value for money. A junior ISA is definitely a better bet.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

Most of these are massively obsolete and if through an advice channel, stand a good chance of being mis-sale. Much better modern alternatives exist. Junior ISA or unit trust/OEIC.I know I could use an IFA but want to do it myself
Make sure you do it right then. At the moment you are looking at something an IFA would not do nowadays as it is obsolete.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
