Advice needed regarding faulty Samsung fridge/freezer from Currys

To try and cut the long story short we ordered a Samsung fridge/freezer at our local Currys and it was delivered last weekend. For reasons I won't go into this was actually the second time lucky for us receiving this fridge/freezer. Anyway, we waited the allocated time and more (over 24 hours) to turn the thing on to find that everything appears to work bar the LCD type screen on the front of the door which is used to control the temperature, etc. so no idea what temperature its actually "working" at.
After a lot of to-ing and fro-ing Currys sent an engineer out who confirmed it was faulty and said that he was unable to repair it. Now the fun begins, Currys are saying that they don't have any in stock to order another one, yet on their website they're still taking orders for it and stating 2-4 weeks delivery. We were told we'd have to go back into store, which we did today, and the best thing they can offer us is to arrange a Samsung engineer and then on the off-chance if they get more in they'll replace it regardless.
Is there anything we can do here as I find not having a working fridge/freezer is of significant inconvenience but Currys don't seem to care and we've been passed between them, KnowHow and Samsung! I even sent a complaint to their customer services email and have no reply whatsoever.
Unfortunately, we still need the fridge/freezer and it was one of the better prices on the market for a fridge/freezer that suited our needs, or else we would have just taken a refund. The beauty is we actually took out their "Whatever Happens" policy at purchase but that doesn't seem to be getting us anywhere either.
Do we have any other options?

You seem to be saying that the fridge freezer functions ok, but to get the digital display to work requires replacement of the whole fridge freezer, and this may take a little while.
Why not buy one of these for less than two pounds delivered to keep you going until the new FF arrives?
By the way, my FF has no led display and we have managed with it for nearly twenty years.

I hear what you're saying but I don't see why I should accept this minor fault considering its a £400 (supposedly down from £700) brand new fridge/freezer. I'm fine to wait to get a replacement but its the lack of communication from Currys that is annoying me more than anything.0 -
And all I'm saying is that it need not be the significant inconvenience that you suggest it is.scottishgirl87 wrote: »...I find not having a working fridge/freezer is of significant inconvenience...
I agree... you should not have to do it... but if a replacement FF is going to come, then why not reduce that inconvenience in the meantime.0 -
Thought I'd hijack this thread regarding a Currys purchase. I bought a surround sound home cinema in Sep 11, one of the sattelite speakers has blown - can I ask for a replacement speaker even though I didn't opt for the extended warranty.0
-
You can ask, but in all honesty I would be amazed if Curry's agreed to a free replacement.
You will probably have to go go the sale of goods route, which means you will have to prove that the speaker failed due to a manufacturing defect and not through misuse. (Curry's might claim that you had the volume too high for a long period).0 -

What lack of communication?? Your OP appears to be about the issue with the product itself. If the primary complaint is service write a letter of complaint clearly communicating that because TBH you have not here.
Who has said you have to accept the fault, Currys have offered a replacement when one in stock or a repair under warranty. You also have the right under the SOGA to reject but you don't want to do that due to the price. How many more options do you want?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
As you have just bought it your are entitled to a full refund, tell them you are rejecting it .0

I think the OP is aware of that...As you have just bought it your are entitled to a full refund, tell them you are rejecting it .scottishgirl87 wrote: »Unfortunately, we still need the fridge/freezer and it was one of the better prices on the market for a fridge/freezer that suited our needs, or else we would have just taken a refund.
Al Ross, perhaps you can address the question asked...scottishgirl87 wrote: »Do we have any other options?0
