Help, cat peed on the sofa

My cat just peed on the sofa. No idea why. Guess it happened about 30 mins before I came in the room. I noticed because the couch was all scuffed up.
Am not aware of it having happened before but now I am wondering if it has happend before and I just wasn't aware of it being out most of the day. Can any recommend a good cat urine light torch, one of those special ones that identifies the areas where it has uirnated so I can check it?
Secondly, I've stuck the couch cover in the machine, annoyinly it was in the middle of another cycle so I had to wait whilst it finished that so it was probably a couple of hours before I could get it in the machine with a load of detergent.
Will the washing machine be able to remove the urine fully?
the sofa pad itself is too big of course so I used some Fairly liquid with a sponge and some Ariel stain remover spray and cold water to get it out. I don't know how much will have gone through the pad, I couldn't see any yellow stain on the pad when I took the cover off, but does urine only go yellow once it's dried?
I'm quite in a tizz.

Sorry I don't know anything about any sort of light . I've read somewhere that a biological powder will remove the smell so I should think after the washing machine it'll be gone . Keep having a sniff of the pad and use a febreeze type spray , works in the ads ! Years ago our kids had a party and I thought someone had spilled a big drink over our sofa . Turns out some girl was so drunk she weed on it . It all washed out , I think ! We have leather sofas now and can wash them .0

Thank you, that reassured me a little but this is freaking me out a bit as I hate the idea of any urine being in the cover after the cycle still or in the seat pad which I can't stick in the machine.
There are definitely some UV lights that show it up but apparently some are awful so I was hoping to benefit from others' experience and recoommendations or un-recommendations as the case might be.
Can anyone else help please? There must be loads of you cat owers out there who have experienced this...0 -
Imo if it's still there no light needed, you will smell it, cat urine is very strong smelling.0

Apart from smell and annoyance, is the cat otherwise well ? Strange peeing could be a sign something is medically wrong with the cat, unfortunately they tend to go back to the same spot after its marked, depends what age and sex the cat is etc, as pointers to why it done that.
Dettox trigger spray (clear) seems to be good to spray on hard to reach spots and seems ok to use on most fabrics as dilutes and neutralises the smell as well as killing all germs and viruses .0 -
Make sure you use Biological washing powder/liquid. You can make your own Febreeze type fabric spray that will neutralise any smells.

Vinegar is also great for getting rid of cat smells.Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0 -

I got in touch with DFS where I got the sofa from 18 months ago. Thanks goodness the lady said they can source me a replacement one. It will be £59 well spent.
Even if I did manage to get it out int he washing machine, I can't bear the thought that their might be a remainder or a trace in there and I'd think about it every time I sat on the sofa.
Still trying to figure out a shortwave UV torch so I can check it's happened elsewhere on the sofa when I wasn't around, or on the rug beneath the sofa which is just the sort of place she'd love to go I'd guess.
I didn't let her in the bedroom thankfully so fingers crossed bed is all ok.0
