booked this hotel but cancelled within plenty of time , card still got charged and i have been speaking to andy from amsterdamhotelservices but had no luck getting money back what is my next move.

If you booked using a credit card involve them in the request for a refund (chargeback) as it seems that you have proof that you did indeed cancel your booking.0

In that case ring up your bank's card services dept and ask for the disputed transactions dept.
They can do the same thing for you if you have proof that you have been debited in error.(Don't let them fob you off if they try to say can't help you as transaction happened abroad - in this case ask to speak to a supervisor or manager)0 -

just rang halifax said they cant do anythink as it is between you and the hotel to sort out. tried to explain the above but he was having none of it

unless they pay up yes...all you can do is keep phoning and e-mailing them and hope for the best. Banks will do very little.
You could also put something in writing to them and give them 14 days to reply befor takign them to the small claims
hopefully it wont come to that and you will get your money back.
How come they charged your card becuase it say just hand the confirmation in I would have thought the hotel would take the money not the booking agent.
