Video Editing Software for Win 7 Help/advice needed

Ok, it sounds like you have the right software and AVCHD is easier as well (HDV with USB is a bit of a nightmare which is why I was asking). It's versions 9, 10 and 11 I use, it looks like they've moved up to version 12.
Is it DVD architect it's looking for? This is included with the retail package of the software but you may need to download the trial for it separately, it allows you to make up the DVD interface. It may also give you better burning options I think once the video is rendered once you can play about with it in DVD architect.
I can't remember the exact dialogue as I thought it gave you the option to burn multiple copies but you should have the option to burn to an iso instead of a disc - if you do this, you can then burn the iso as you would a normal image file with your usual burning software. On the first DVD burn it should ask you where to put the files (*mpg/*ac3) which it will render and then they should be left there if you want to burn another DVD anyway.
Alternatively it may be worth ditching the software and trying something else which you may find suits you better, the Sony software seemed to click better with me than other software but I know people who find the opposite and prefer other software. As I've not looked elsewhere I don't have any specific recommendations but there are newer versions of Pinnacle which may be worth a look?
Another option is to convert the video files from AVCHD to something else that Windows Movie Maker can take as that should be more straightforward. I don't have any specific recommendations as I never had any luck getting Movie Maker to take files it was supposed to support.
