Barclays Additions Plus account charges

Good afternoon,

My dad has a BAP account, that he has paid a monthly fee for since roughly 1998 (increased gradually over the years). He had benefits with this account, including phone cover, gadget cover, appliance cover, roadside assistance and a will writing service. He was not aware that all of these services were available, or that he would have to register to make use of them. (He knew some existed, but was not aware of having to register to take advantage). It was only within the last few weeks that he found out about this, so contacted the bank. They have said that he should have taken advantage of them as he should have been told when he signed up for it. He was also told that it was a good account to have. Some of the services didn't even exist when he initially signed up for the account and was not aware that he had them. They have refused to repay him the monthly fees.

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of claim, or any information at all in regards to where he stands?

You're a diamond. I was looking for something like this, but couldn't find it. I shall take it straight to the Ombudsman, as the bank have already refused my claim. Thanks!
