Hi all

Last weeks plan went well. Most of the evening dishes were from the Hairy Dieters and I have to say they were all very tasty. This week most meals are HM and from the freezer as I am trying to drastically reduce the grocery bill, very tight money month for us.

Sat - Fish pie with veg
Sun - Roast lamb and veg (lamb sliced and frozen from a previous roast)
Mon - Bolognaise (HM from freezer)
Tue - Soup and crumble (both HM from the freezer)
Wed - Beef stew (HM from freezer)
Thur - Cassoullet (HM from freezer)
Fri - Breaded fish, HM potato wedges and tinned mushy peas.

Porridge and cereal for breakfast with sandwiches, wraps and HM frozen meals for lunches.

Have a good week and happy meal planning.

Edited to add I have just made a bottom of the fridge soup so will be adding that to the list of lunches for this week
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

  • Hello everyone, thanks for starting us off this week Mrs Veg Plot

My plans went a bit askew last week as it was half term so I spent some time meeting up with friends for lunch and DS went out with his friends. So some of last weeks ingredients can be used up this week instead:

Heres mine for w/b Monday 25 Feb

HM Chilli burgers, wedges and salad
    Stir fry beef & noodles
Chicken thighs - not sure what to do with them yet, maybe tandoori
    Spag Bol
pork & mushroom pasta with garlic & herb sauce & garlic bread
    steak & chips
Roast pork, roast tatties & veg, gravy

    Have a good week x

  • Good Morning :)

Thanks Mrs Veg Plot for starting us off this week - looking forward to a week of running down the freezer and storecupboard, so the shopping list shouldn't be too expensive this week! Here goes:

Sat - some kind of chicken supreme thing, either with potato wedges or served in a giant Yorkshire pud
    Sun - Meatballs with Pasta
Mon - Sausages & Mash with Onion Gravy
    Tues - Enchiladas
Weds - Fish & Chip Supper
Thurs - Chilli con Carne with Sauteed Potatoes
    Fri - Pasta Bake

There's a batch of Nigella's Breakfast Bars in the oven at the moment for snacks and I'm hoping to do a bit of baking later in the week for the cake or biscuit tin.

    Have a lovely week, everyone.

Hi everyone. Last week of our GC so will be basing all meals on using up and freezer clearing.

Sat. YS quiche, HM chips and salad.

Tues. HM burgers, wedges and salad.
Wed. Mac cheese, HM garlic bread and salad.
Thurs. Thai red curry with rice and naan bread.
    Fri. Chicken chow mein

Hope everyone has a good week and thank you for keeping this thread going. It really helps keep me on the straight and narrow:T

  • I'll be going shopping tonight for the week. The plan so far is:

Sat: grilled salmon with rice pilaf
Sun: spaghetti and meatballs (will make lots of meatballs to freeze)
Mon: Sticky chinese chicken (from freezer) with noodles
Tues: Sausages (from freezer) and mash and veg
    Weds: Haven't decided yet!
    Thurs: Chilli from freezer
    Fri: Soup from freezer

Lunches wil be pittas, houmous and cucumber, carrot etc for dipping, or leftovers or soup from the freezer.

I can't decide what to do on Wednesday. Its my husband's day to cook so if I choose something he's not keen on he'll just go and buy something else and blow the budget. He's supposed to decide what he'd like to make but hasn't come up with anything yet.... I've got some beef stew in the freezer so I might just get him to make some roast potatoes to go with that.

I've already made a banana loaf cake and flapjacks for snacks for the week and am now ignoring the vast pile of washing up to be done!

  • Thanks for starting it off Mrs veg plot.

Next week I am on my own 3 nights, so it's just going to be easy meals I reckon (and poss even a ready meal on thursday-I work later that day, AND it is a fasting day, so only have around 400cals for dinner :D) We are having a roast chicken for dinner tomorrow-so that will lead on to most of the meals for the following week : )

    Mo-thai/vietnamese chicken soup
    Tu-chicken stir fry with rice
    we-chicken and mushroom pasta bake
Th-cheese omelette or a ready meal (waitrose love life ones are very nice, and I don't DO ready meals)
Fr-Beef stew, baked spuds & veg
Sa-Lamb tagine, rice & veg, maybe fish pie if I can persuade OH to make it (I'm working)
    Su-roast-maybe pork

Thanks for starting us off this week Mrs Veg Plot.

We stuck to the meal plan quite well apart from Friday. DD and OH even kept to it while I was away which really suprised me.

Saturday - We were out for lunch today so just some Ravioli in a HM veg soup for dinner
Sunday - Roast Gammon (DD and Me) / Lamb chops in a curry paste marinade (OH) with New Potatatoes and Veg
Monday - Beef Casserole with Yorkshire Puddings (didn't make last week)
    Tuesday - Chicken chowmein
Wednesday - Chicken and Ribs with vegetable rice and salad
Thursday - Sausage and Pasta Soup
Friday - Herby Chicken & Pasta

Breakfasts will be porride, cereal, cereal bars and fruit

Lunches will be Wraps, sandwiches and left overs

Snacks will be fruit, dried fruit, nuts and biscuits

Hope everyone has a good week
  • Not a bad week for us again and i managed to stick to the menu plan with no additions. For this week we've the following:

Monday - LO hm lasagne (made and froze the other week)
Tuesday - LO Roast pork with a chinese sauce and noddles/rice
Wednesday - LO Roast pork made into a casserole
Thursday - Sausages, veg and cous cous
Friday - hm burgers in a roll with wedges
    Saturday - Bambi casserole
    Sunday - Roast

Saturday may change into more LO pork casserole if i can stretch it that far and burgers may turn into spag bol which will stretch to a few freezer portions for later in the month.
