Would you change or not?
Hello,
Just wanting some feedback about whether I should change my energy supplier or not.
I am currently with npower and have been changed to their Go Save S tariff as previous deal has ended.
I have had no issues with them but I really dislike the fact that they only review my account once a year and therefore change the direct debt once a year. Obviously if all suppliers do this then I should just have to deal with it but previously when I was with British Gas I'm sure my payments was regularly updated whenever I submitted meter readings.
My current usage is electricity 1514kwh per year and gas 7614kwh. I try to be quite fugal as I seem a lot less than average!
I like the EDF fixed deal until 2014 with no tie ins but I have read about some customers having problems with them. I dont really like them being French either (apologies if I am wrong on that!).
Ideally I would like to go with British Gas as I had no bad experiences with them previously and like their smart meter but they are expensive!!
Shall I just stick with npower and fix it with them and deal with the once a year change in dd or seek someone else?
Reading through my post it would appear I better stay and fix with npower? If I do stay with them and do it through cheap energy club am I still entitled to £30 cashback?
Thanks in advance.
Rob

Hi, personally I would sit tight for a couple of months and wait to see which way the market is going to move.
I have usually found it best to change April/May once seeing if it looks like prices are rising/falling.
I don't know if things will be different this year with the government forcing suppliers to reduce the number of tariffs available.
As far as I know you cannot get cashback for staying with the same supplier even though changing tariff but no doubt someone will be along to clarify that.0 -
I would fix, and fix for as long as possible. There is no good reason to expect domestic prices to fall in the short to medium term. There are lots of good reasons to expect prices to continue going up. The main reasons being our increasing dependence on imported gas and the likelihood of energy company costs for green policies and infrastructure development being passed on to us customers.
As for who you go with, aren't they all as bad as each other? Take whichever fix gives you the best deal.0 -

Read your meters regularly and submit readings, then contact the supplier and ask them to review your DD manually.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
