Malwarebytes is it free?

I had a virus on my laptop and was advised to download Malwarebytes which I did and it cleared it. I am now getting a pop up saying my free period is coming to an end. I was impressed since it cleared the virus but do I need an ongoing subscription. I have no idea what it costs? Any help would be appreciated.

When the trial ends it will revert to the free version.

You don't need to pay the subscription. You can continue to run it in free mode once the trial period ends. The only thing you will lose are the 'pro' features which aren't that useful anyway.

The pro feature is worthwhile. This scans the activity in real time, and if there is an issue, sorts it before any damage is done. The free version will fix the problem when you scan the HD, but if something hits you first, before you scan, you may end up with an unbootable PC.

For the modest one-off cost, I believe it is worth it and I heartily recommend it over the higher priced time-limited alternatives.

Protecting you from malware isn't useful?

    Two/three ways it protects.

1/2. Source IP of exploit/payload (Website blocking)
    3. Payload Execution (Filesystem protection)

    Add to that scheduled updating/scans.
