Burn DVD In Windows 8

How can I burn a DVD in W8 so that it is finalised & playable on DVD players?
I used Movie Maker in W7 but that option has gone.
When I insert a blank DVD, I chose the option to use it for CDs/DVDs rather than as a pen drive. I can burn files to it by right clicking (I think I can do the same by saving it to the DVD drive using Movie Maker). However, they seem only to exist as files rather than a formatted DVD.
The settings on the Burn wizard says that it will automatically "Close Session", which I believe is similar to finalising although it does only say this makes it playable on other computers. I can't watch it on my DVD player and when I reinsert it back into the laptop, it doesn't behave like it is a finalised DVD.
The file format I've tried is MP4, if that's of relevance?
Thanks

Thanks ... but how do you use this particular version to burn & finalise DVDs? I could do this with the version I had on W7 but I can see no obvious way for the W8 version.0 -
As I know, there is a Windows 8 DVD Maker for free.0
