Can't see it making an awful lot of difference; the downgrade to the US in 2011 didn't really effect their interest rates.0

Being 'down-rated' could make it more expensive for a country to borrow, (loans etc) - which may have a knock-on effect to all of us.
I’m no expert, but I sometimes wonder how ‘objective’ decisions by the ‘Big Three’ agencies are (S&Ps, Moody’s & Fitch). S&P downgraded the US in August 2011 – and now they are being sued for $ billions in the US courts. Neither of the other two agencies followed suit. :cool:0 -
Yeah, but the US let their house price bubble burst. I think it's not going to be good news for us - look at how much sterling has devalued against other currencies already. A COMPLETE bummer because for ages now I've thought the market was insane, so stayed out of the FTSE rally. I gave in just last week and lo and behold - this news comes out. !!!!!!.......
So - MY big question - how to preserve the value of my savings against a sterling decline? I may roll over my NS&I certs in June... gold is a funny one right now... convert to other currencies or buy international shares? The dollar seems to be having quite a rally!0
