  • In fairness to the vet we were also talked about neutering. I had asked for him to be chipped that day and he said would be better waiting if he was going to get neutered at some time and get the chip then, but I got the impression it would be painful.

Just to let you know we tried this at Sheffield and you need to have the voucher in the email :( It was £10 with out. So not too bad, but frustrating!

if you live near a Dog Trust centre they are offering free chipping weekends for dogs over the next few months. if the one near you isnt doing it for a while i personally wouldnt wait and pay the fee for somewhere like pets at home- £10 is still good price if it means you get your pet back sooner - hopefully you will never have to use it but better to play safe.

i often read on a facebook group for lost and found pets many cats and dogs which have been found and they cant trace an owner, ok not all the owners care about the found animal and they could have been dumped, but there will be some whose owner is desperate to have them back but they just cant be traced.

Over the years ive had 9 cats chipped and never had a problem, was just the same as their annual injections. just get it done asap!

The Dogs Trust are running FREE microchipping at the following venues. I know its all FREE, but i personally would like to think that any of you guys that benefit from it make a donation. Please follow the link below.

Not one venue anywhere near me! If you can't get to any of the venues, Pets-at-home are offering £5 microchipping when you join their shop loyalty scheme, you register and get a card for discounts off your shopping.

Dogs Trust aren't in my area however RSPCA are also holding FREE microchipping events in different areas. I can't seem to find anything on their website with all the details but they have a FB page for different areas so worth having a look.

I took my dogs to the RSPCA free microchipping event today. One squealed and the other (which was trying to escape as he was terrified) didn't make a sound. It just depends on the dog. I expected them both to give a little yelp but the squeal sounded like it was very painful. They have both vomitted a few times on the way home, pleased I have a washable car seat cover for the back seat when dogs are in tow :)

It is £10 at Pets at Home without a voucher as you know. The £5 voucher was in the Sunday Express (24th Feb) or you could get one through the VIP card. The £5 offer ends this coming Sunday.

  • It's been a week now since little ASBO the cat has been chipped and she's been absolutely fine, no side effects whatsoever. I left her collar off for a few days but it's been back on now since Wednesday and it doesn't seem to bother her. My registration papers have also arrived, which is really good service.

Best of all though is that I have peace of mind.
