Boiler making noises, what's m option?

They would do an initial inspection within a certain amount of time (often around 90 days for many companies) to make the policy valid, and on top of that, you usually can't claim with the first x number of days. They can refuse to cover a boiler, or ask for you to get it to a suitable standard before the policy becomes valid.0

So, what should I do? Buy another boiler now or wait for it to pack up? Where can I buy one?
Does British Gas Homecare cover repairing the boiler?0 -
I've been with BG Homecare, and as boiler cover goes, I find it the best of the big companies. BG at least sends out its own engineers. I'm sure I saw an article on here about insuring your boiler and heating system - that it's just as prudent to put the same money aside that you would pay to a company, and call out someone to repair it as and when needed. If I was staying in a house long term, I would consider that. At the moment I'm with Scottish Power Home Comfort and have found the experience awful. In your position, I'd put money aside each month, but for now, I'd call out a local company (preferably on your council's trusted traders list if they have one, or perhaps recommended by friends/family or in Which Local). This would mean upfront cost, but hopefully not something too expensive if you go with a reputable company.
(There is always the chance BG will be too busy to do your inspection and because they can't adhere to the agreement, they cover you - especially if the boiler is just making noise without anything being particularly wrong. Personally I'd be worried that I may be paying for an agreement which they won't cover me on).0 -
Hi All,
My boiler has been making noises for about a month now. I'm right to assume that it's about to pack up?
If so, what's can I do before the D-Day? Sign up for BG Homecare? etc
Get in a recommended RGI to have a look at it: don't assume the condition is terminal or the boiler is beyond economical repair.;)0 -
and there are better options than BG...:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

seems my crystal ball pic has been removed so i will write it instead.
how on earth is anyone suppose to give you advice when you give no info, we don't know what boiler you have, we don't know if it's working, we don't know what noises it makes, we don't know what kind of system you have, basically you have told us nothing & you want advice :huh:I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Insurance is not to cover existing faults, that is likely fraud if you pretend it is a new fault.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
